It’s a Disney Channel Original Movie that tells the story of two students who decide to audition for their high school musical. However, by doing so, they manage to turn their worlds and their school upside down!
Troy Bolton is team captain of Wildcats, the East High basketball team, and Gabriella is the brainy and beautiful girl about to join East High. While they are on New Year’s Eve vacations with their families, Troy and Gabriella meet and take part in a karaoke contest. And, although they’re both reluctant to start off with, within seconds they discover their love for singing and their interest in one another.
When the new school term begins, Troy and Gabriella meet again and decide to secretly audition for the two lead parts in the upcoming high school musical. When their two best friends Chad and Taylor find out though, they do their best to talk Troy and Gabriella out of it. Chad thinks that Troy should be concentrating on being the hoops champion of the school and Taylor thinks that Gabriella should be studying math and science as much as possible for the sake of the academic club that she has joined. But it’s brother and sister, Ryan and Sharpay Evans, who really try to spoil Troy and Gabriella’s efforts. Sharpay has been starring in school plays since kindergarten so she is determined that her and Ryan should get the lead parts themselves.
So, which pair will succeed? Will Troy and Gabreilla get together as they reach for the stars and follow their dreams?
